Insights from the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) 2026
I spent the day exploring the Hong Kong Electronics Fair today. While the energy is there, here are my key takeaways from the floor:
• Tech Focus: The most "innovative" sectors continue to be Robotics, AI-integrated applications, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
• Innovation Gap: Despite the buzzwords, many products feel like "old wine in new bottles"—incremental updates rather than true breakthroughs.
• Exhibitor Profile: The landscape remains heavily dominated by ODM and OEM manufacturers, primarily from Mainland China. Major international brands were noticeably absent.
• Foot traffic: The atmosphere was relatively quiet. International buyer turnout seems lower than in previous years, making for a less crowded experience on the floor.
It’s a great reminder of where the manufacturing powerhouse lies, but I’m still looking for that next "big thing."
